This diverse collection of bone paintings includes, rams, bob cats, coyotes, birds, sea lions, beavers, bears, and a human replica.
"Bones are neither straight nor perfectly curved. Each is as unique as the life-force they once held. Catch the light just right and bones shimmer in pearlescent color. Painting skulls feels like a grapple with mortality and existential beauty. I hope these paintings communicate this duality. "
The Leaf paintings are with Sidestreet Arts Gallery. Please send inquiries directly to them.
These 6x6" paintings capture the jewel-like quality of nature's little treasures. Using juicy strokes of paint for the details, Brooke's botanical art sparkles with fresh color and energy.
Brooke's archive is loaded with 8 years of painting landscapes en plein air.
American painter, b. 1982. Classically trained in oil painting techniques from France & Italy with contemporary studies in impressionism, plein air painting, and live figurative art. Earned BA in Studio Art from UCSD. Raised in Northern California, currently lives in Portland, Oregon.
"Painting en plein air makes me conscious of how fluid a landscape really is. Light and color change at a moment's notice, clouds and waves move constantly. Creating a landscape en plein air gives me the time to sit, listen, smell, observe, and respond in paint."
Brooke paints portraits and creates custom oil paintings for art collectors around the world.
