The human figure is endlessly inspiring. Capturing the dynamic movements, musculature, and character of our corporal bodies is as challenging as it is rewarding. My approach to expressing the human figure is both organic and gestural. Combining my knowledge of anatomy with the versatility of oil paint, charcoal, and chalk, I work in short, 5 minute bursts to longer, 30 minute sessions. These studies aim to express the essential nature and energy of a pose and are therefore much more deliciously abstract than the contemporary realism most of my studio work is known for.
